What is Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states:"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance."
Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex (gender) in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination on the basis of sex (gender), including sexual harassment, sexual assault, non-consensual sexual touching, sexual exploitation, intimate partner (dating and domestic) violence, and stalking. The University provides resources and reporting options to students, faculty, and staff to address concerns related to sexual misconduct prohibited by Title IX and University policy.
